Hey everyone, I just joined and thought I would start by sharing my first experience of naturism - which happened quite recently last year when I was 18 and about to start uni. This is the first time I've been able to describe this experience and how it got me interested in the naturist lifestyle.

I was on holiday with my family in Wales and we went to a great beach at Morfa Dyffryn. I went for a stroll up the beach and found there was a naturist section which was pretty surprising, I didn't expect to find that in deepest Wales! I was curious and strolled through the section (there were lots of other clothed people passing through too) and was struck by how it looked quite fun being totally free and uninhibited by clothes. At that time I didn't think it was something I'd do myself however. When I walked back and told my family they just cracked a few cliched jokes and that was that.

Over the next couple of days I kept thinking about it and became more curious as to what it would be like to give it a try. I had hardly ever been naked in public, only really communal showers at school and the gym. My attitude is try most things once and so I eventually decided to go back alone and see if I could do it. So the next day I went off on a bike ride (I did this a lot so seemed totally standard to my family) and headed for the beach.

When I arrived I walked down to the naturist area but ended up walking straight through. It was a hot day so the beach was pretty packed and I couldn't find anywhere to stop which wasn't right by other people. I nearly gave up and left but something made me go back. This time I found a spot in between two couples that wasn't quite so close so stopped and got my towel out of my rucksack.

To start with I just sat down on my towel and still wasn't sure if I'd do it. I felt a few people nearby glance over at me probably wondering if I was just there to stare or if I was actually going to get my kit off. I realised I needed to just get on with it and so started by taking off my trainers and socks (start small!). Next it was my t-shirt - the cool breeze felt great on my back and shoulders. Then I unbuttoned my shorts and slowly pulled them off leaving me in just my boxers. Now it was make or break time...

There was no going back, I quickly tugged them down and for the first time was totally naked outdoors. It was an unusual feeling but I felt comfortable now I was like everyone else around me. After putting plenty of suncream on (I have pretty fair skin unlike all the deeply tanned people on the beach) I lay back on the towel enjoying the feeling of the sun on my body.

I probably lay there for half an hour or more before feeling like the next step was to go for a stroll and maybe a swim in the sea. As I was on my own I was a bit nervous about leaving my bag and started trying to stuff my things inside. However the couple next to me must have realised the issue and asked if I'd like them to look after it. They looked around my parents age and it was a little odd at first as this was the first time I'd really spoken to anybody in the buff. Hoping they weren't thieves I thanked them and set off towards the sea.

Walking naked felt on a different level to lying naked - real freedom. Walking past other naked people also took a little getting used to but quickly I didn't really notice. I had a great swim (I'd never been skinny dipping before) and then walked the length of the beach to dry off.

When I got back to my spot I ended up having a good chat with the couple who were from Birmingham. (Hi if by any chance you're on here!) They had guessed it was my first time and that I seemed unsure about it. I explained it was a totally spontaneous thing that week but that I'd enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. Having a conversation with a man and woman around my parents' age with us all naked was certainly different but helped me get used to it as being nothing out of the ordinary and very natural.

After a few more swims and strolls I needed to head back so reluctantly got dressed again. After being bare for a few hours clothes felt so heavy and restrictive! I knew I wanted to do it again soon although we were heading home the next day. I ended up going back on my own a couple of weeks later and had another good day.

Since then I've started going naked a lot more at home although my family don't know anything. I've been back to Morfa a few times this summer and went to Holkham yesterday. Becoming a naturist has given me more body confidence and it is always guaranteed to make me feel chilled and calm.

I am surprised that there are very few younger people on the beaches - not necessarily my age but even under 40. We need the younger generation to get involved but having said that I'm unsure what my friends would think if I told them. I also found it a bit creepy how there were guys with binoculars up on the sand dunes looking at people down on the beach but I guess people are used to it. Generally people seemed happy to keep to themselves but also friendly.

I'm hoping this forum might help me develop as a naturist and I'd like to chat to experienced people as well as younger people who might have had a similar experience to me. I know this is something that is going to be a part of my life moving forwards and having someone to enjoy it with would be great!

Thanks for reading, sorry it was a bit long 🙂

Thanks Elliot, for your first experience recall, it will help other people new to being a naturist. I walked on Holkham yesterday evening and by then the wind had strengthened probably to windy to sunbath.
Enjoy your future visits to North Norfolk.

Hi Martin, thanks for reading my post. It was sunny but very windy at Holkham yesterday. Still had a good afternoon though walking/swimming was easier than sunbathing. Might take a windbreak next time!

Elliott, what a fabulous post! So glad you joined NC. This is a great place to talk about what we do. Many of us know how you feel about having to be secretive, and it's very satisfying to be able to chat on this forum.

Your sensation of freedom and the constricting feeling of clothes the first time you dressed at Morfa are typical of must people's reaction.
Welcome to the fold.

Do you think maybe young people are wary of being photo'd with all the cams on phones these days with some idiot posting it & hence worried about being ridiculed if people they knew saw it? It certainly didn't used to be like that - nor is it like that on the continent.

Hey Stu, that's an interesting thought. Normally I'm wearing sunglasses and often a cap too so it'd be hard for someone to totally recognise me but yeah in today's world you never know what's going to end up online. Although you'd have to ask how they found it I guess...

That's my thought as well [how did someone find a nude pic of me] but I think as you get older you get more of a 'who gives a f***' attitude. I've got the impression younger people are wary of phone snaps - theres been a fair bit in media about sexting going awry. And I'm readily recognisable by my shades apparently

Welcome to our happy band, Elliott! Your story proves, like many others on here, that the scariest part of stripping off for the first time I just before you do it!

Afterwards all fears melt away, and a few minutes later you forget you're even naked!

God give me patience ... but I want it NOW!!My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/steveteb/videos

here's one explanation. I think this particular article is quite old and the technique has probably been refined a bit by now

As others - welcome.
The first time is always strange when you look back on it - what was the problem - especially since everyone else is naked - its not like you have things different to them.

Re young people, since your male and no one else has gone here - naturally there is the erection issue. Often when your young errections just happen and especially with people you find sexy around you. But the reality is nudist beaches (if you are there for the sun or swimming) or nudist clubs are not sexual locations (if your there to just look at all the hot babes - as some men do at textile beaches then that's different), but since they are not sexual locations the issue normally doesn't arise (pun intended).

re not telling your parents - As a parent I would suggest you do (although our kids knew we were, as we all were naked in our garden from their early age onwards), your partents may have known there was a nudist beach there and maybe wanted to attend but were concerned about your reaction - and probably re-enforced by your jokes. But to let them know you thought about why wear clothes in that situation and did go back to try it - will  never be bad - either they will say - wow glad you did - or something negative like - well that's up to you, as long as you don't around here! Either way - hiding such things is never good and its nothing to be ashamed off, and if they are not nudist - maybe the next time they might take a walk along the beach to realise its not about people having sex on the beach or just all the beautiful people - just people enjoying the sun and sea.
