I was spending summer weekends working as pit crew for a motorcycle endurance racing team.  Looking at spending two hot sweaty days dressed head to foot in fireproof clothing for refuelling safety, I decided to book into a nearby naturist caravan site for the weekend to try the absolute opposite of nudism each evening as a means of relaxation.  I discovered a new world of freedom and comfort so surprising and a group of people so friendly and supportive to a newbie, that I booked in for an additional three days after the race weekend.  What started as a zany idea has resulted in a continuing passion. For the last three years I have tried in vain to persuade my wife to join me, but to no avail.

Hi Lin

You are not the only one on this group who has a partner that is not 'into' naturism.

Maybe the only way forward is to become friendly with other couples and gradually work towards clothing being optional once you get to know each other. Often it is the fear of what others may think that is a major problem as stops people from at least trying naturism.

For me, I tried it out because of the hot weather and the high humidity........  Now I'm naked as much as possible indoors and only in the garden / patio if the other half is out, but keep to the parts that are not overlooked.  (She is worried about what the neighbours will say / think).

Regards

My wife has aways been a bit reluctant. We visited a club where "a elder statesman" spoke to her about naturism, what it was, why we did it and pointed out the advantages including esteem, body image, confidence etc. in a very friendly way. I could talk to her about it until the cows come home but friendly advice and encouragement from a sincere stranger worked wonders. Some time later she said, "I think you're trying to convert me" I said, "I think you're converting yourself" to which she replied, "I think you're right."

If you bring a reluctant partner into a naturist environment it's important they meet straightforward genuine naturists of the right disposition. If I'd taken her a beach full of meerkats and other weirdos the cause would have been lost. As it is she realises most naturists are normal (?!!?) people with the usual life problems. The only essential difference is the dress code. We 'ain't got horns growing out of our heads!!

It tends to be much easier if you get into naturism via French beaches as I did.
For our first deliberate French naturist beach holiday my wife bought several pairs of skinny knickers to wear as bikini bottoms were not easily obtainable separately at a sensible price.
She wore one pair for part of our first day on the beach.
