A hard work walk with often some dodgy characters, unfortunately.

Pity it's gone that way. As a London child many of our familholidays were at Fairlight and the cove was a frequent haunt, usually we were the only ones there, back in the '50s and early '60s. It was great fun for city kids.

What's alwYs forgotten is that Fairlight Cove was the country's first officially sanctioned nude beach, several months ahead of Brighton. Brighton became more famous because it was Brighton and the beach was by the town and far more accessible.

Interesting comments above. We haven't been for a few years but never met dodgy characters at all, mainly couples and children.

I don't know whether it is because it's no longer an official beach, but on the occasions I went there, I was always propositioned by men.  Unfortunately there was also activity in the trees and bushes behind the cove.  It's such a beautiful place too, and such a shame to have it spoilt in this way.  I'm a resilient lady, otherwise it would definitely have put me off naturism for life!

Fairlight was one of the first naturist beaches i ever visited years ago,it was fine then.Great shame if it is being spoilt for genuine naturism. 🙂

I go once or twice each year and have never seen any of the bad behaviour. That said, I stick to the beach!

Perhaps you've hit a rare off day?

Likewise, I made my first ever trip there this year and saw nothing untoward (and it's not like I didn't explore). I thought it was an excellent beach that would be even better if it had slightly more sand.

...and slightly easier access, although if you get the tide right you can walk along from Pett Level.
