I've read there is a beach in clacton, has anyone been. Thinking of going as it's closest to me.

There is an official one at St Osyth, and also an unofficial one at Bradwell. Neither are the greatest beaches in the world to be honest, but if you just want somewhere quiet to relax au naturel, they are an option - there is precious little else in Essex unfortunately !

Pretty sure you mean the one at St.Osyth. An official beach. This is a bit south of Clacton.

Yes that's the one, as I've not been to one before I didn't want to drive miles to try it.  Might go check it out tomorrow or Thursday if weather lasts.

Not been for a couple of years. It was a nice sunny day. Sea was nice, a shingle type beach and a few others enjoying. No facilities but a large beach extending well back from the sea.
A car park at the end of the road through the caravan parks and then about  1/4 of a mile walk. It is well sign posted from the car park. This is walking away from Jaywick/Clacton. Can actually walk a couple of miles (perhaps more) and would expect you could do most naturist, although I am not sure where the official beach ends.

Do you have to be careful of tides, could I get stuck there at high tide?

The first time I went naked in public was on St Osyths Beach. I thought it was great and went there quite often. You used to be able to drive to it from the caravan park along a rocky track that ran beside the sea. It was important to know the tide times as at high tide the road got covered and I made several hasty, worrying exits when I couldn’t see where the track was. The track eventually got destroyed by winter storms so now you have to walk to the beach carrying everything you need. There are signs saying when you enter the nudist area but I used to get naked long before the signs as the only people around were probably nudists as well. Not the best nudist beach but here in Essex it’s the only one we’ve got.

We have not been since the 'road' disappeared

If you google the driest place in the UK you will get Lee Wick Farm St Osyth, which is close (not too close) to the beach.
