Both my wife and I were in Brighton today and thought about topping up our tans as it was sunny on the nudist beach there.
When we got down to the beach the prevailing winds made it (for us) far to cold to strip off so we opted instead to drink our wine on the beach as wrapped up textiles.
But we had to admire the few individuals, and it had to be said men, that we're making the most of the sunshine, some spend most of the time without a wind breaker in sight.
We'd love to know if folks who spend a lot of time on the beaches nude just get aclimitised to the coldness or are they just stubben or foolhardy 🙂
We often go to Kinshaldy beach in Fife to top up the sunburn. There is always a wind blowing there so we take a beach shelter. I usually strip off, even in mid winter just to be nude for 5 minutes but the clothes will go back on if it's too cold. My wife likes it to be warm before she undresses but even she has done the mid January mad run into the North Sea. A hot flask of tea helps after that, lol.
I have also stayed nude when the day has been warm, then cooled down, and my wife has got dressed as she feel the cold more than I do, so I guess I also get acclimatised too.
So in answer to you question, in my case, a bit of both.

and that is exactly why clothes were made! Not to cover our modesty as most people think, but to keep us warm. There is no sense in being naked if you are uncomfortably cold just for the sake of being naked. Nakedness is not a fashion statement and clothes were originally designed to be functional to keep us warm in colder climates.

I suspect they are like me. I'm not a beach person but am naked outside almost every day of the year although not always for very long.
When I lived in London I used to swim (naked in my case) before work at Tooting Bec Lido through to October or November every year until it got too cold to swim for ten minutes. Others swim throughout the winter.
Like Robt51 I am comfortable naked throughout the evening at places like Euronat when my wife and most other people dress up warmly and I am often the only nude in the before breakfast bread queue.
I suppose it is simply a difference in metabolism and/or acclimatisation.

It also depends on what you are doing, if you are just sitting or lying still with normal clothes on and the air temperature drops you will eventually get cold.
On the other hand, if you are exercising or moving around then your metabolism is active and one tends to stay warmer for longer.
Acclimatisation is another factor as you can train your body and your mind to accept lower temperatures without feeling the cold.
I also find that being completely undressed frequently feels warmer than being partially dressed. When part of my body is covered, the uncovered parts seem to feel relatively cold, giving the impression that it's generally colder than it really is. I think your body can regulate its temperature better when the same conditions exist all over.
If you can put up with walking across the stones barefoot on Brighton beach you can certainly manage a force 8 gale and -22 temperatures!

Went to Brighton today and it was PACKED! I've never seen it that busy in 10 years. Over 50 couples and I counted about 450 people (roughly).
So busy people spilled out over each end of the boundaries.
Was also a very nice atmosphere today, can't put my finger on it but lots of friendly chatting and meeting with seeming strangers.

Play nice...... Play Naked!
I very rarely go to beaches, nude or otherwise. I am out on the hills naked most days irrespective of weather. Down to minus 2c. No, it isnt a fashion statement but I am quite acclimatised to the cold and wet. I feel more comfortable and warmer without clothes than with.
