It looks as if it is going to be nice weather for naked walking this Sunday and three of us are already planning to go for a 16 mile walk in Sherwood Forest Nottinghamshire. I have not decided exactly where to meet yet to accommodate parking as I do not know how many people may be join us. I can tell you that it will be within 3 miles from Ollerton. We will be setting off at aprox 11.00 am on Sunday morning. If you would like to join us please reply to this post. I will answer any questions you have, and will let you know where we will meet when  have some idea of numbers.
Looking forward to it already.

Would be great - but my daughter is getting married that weekend so I won't be able to join 🙁 I hope the weather is as good as they predict.

I haven't been killed in the rush but if anyone else is interested in joining us we will be starting the walk from the Alders car park at 11.00 am Sunday morning. There is plenty of safe parking there and when you have finished the walk you can pop into the pub for a drink or a meal. Food and prices are  very reasonable. You will need to bring something to eat and drink as there are no drink or food opportunities on route. The weather forecast is good. Please have a wrap or bag to hold in front of you if necessary, although I am not expecting it to be, but you never know. The walk will probably take about 6 hours but could be shorter dependant an walking abilities. Here is a link to the pub car park we will be meeting in https://www.alderspubollerton.co.uk/ Scroll down the web page for directions.

We will leave the car park at 11.05 join us if you can.

David.  Fantastic!

I didn’t confirm my attendance because it had to be a last minute decision.  But the walk was glorious.

The weather pretended it was not going to warm up, but the 2 committed naturists persuaded the 2 wimps to get into uniform very early in the walk and I was really glad that you did.  It turned into a glorious day.

We hardly needed cover for the entire walk.
Though I must admit that the last mile was a bit tiring!
I had only paced myself for 16!

The reactions of the various people we met were interesting.

Most smiled acknowledgement and carried on apparently unfazed.

The most disappointing was the lady who, though laughing as if not worried, covered the eyes of her young daughter, even though we had covered up.  What did that signify?  What thoughts has she now implanted in that young girl’s mind?  I shudder to think.

I’ll be watching for your next walk.
Norman.

The walk started under cloudy skies and a cool wind this morning it didn’t look too promising. However as soon as the four of us got naked 5 minutes from the car park it didn’t feel so bad. It was so enjoyable that we extended it a little and actually did 17.84 miles. It surprising how easily the miles go by when in good company. We decided at the outset of the walk that we wouldn’t cover up unless people had children with them. Not because we have a problem with children seeing us naked but we assume that parents may be a little more sensitive, quite wrongly on behalf of the children. We met quite a few people and were often greeted with smiles and sometimes giggles and at worst one or two people choosing to look away and not respond to our greetings. There were no complaints or negative comments from anyone. We met a couple with two young children, we saw them in the distance and covered ourselves as soon as we saw them. As we walked past the man smiled and said hello and the woman did the same but at the same time covered the childrens eyes so that they could not see us. It was really strange as the woman and the man appeared to be quite relaxed, friendly and smiley. We were all covered at the time and felt very sad that she had felt it necessary to cover the childrens eyes, who knows what they must have been thinking.
The sun popped out occasionally and the temperature improved slightly, we did not feel cold despite a cool wind from time to time. We all really enjoyed 6 hours and 8 minutes that it took from start to finish including a 20 minute stop for food. Our little experiment to see how people would react perhaps shows that tolerance and possibly a little more understanding is growing in the light of WNBRs spencer tunic stunts, naked calendars, charity events involving nudity, GBSD to name but a few.

David,

Thanks for arranging the walk...

Well, in the end four of us turned up and had a brilliant walk - almost 18 miles in Sherwood Forest. It was mostly cloudy but we did get glimpses of the sun. It was nice and warm as long as we did not stop for too long. I would say that we were naked for about 17 miles of the 18 total as we covered up for a short while at start and end of the walk and when crossing roads. I have lost count of the number of people that we passed - over 30 I would guess. We did meet a group of 12 to 15 walkers, several couples out walking and several cyclists. Most of the time we did not make any attempt to cover up and those whom we met seemed quite happy, exchanging greetings, having a brief chat, or making a joke. I suppose we might have been lucky that we did not meet any rabid prudes but the people that we did meet were friendly enough.

I cannot promise that everyone else would have equally good encounters, but we had some advantages - all over sun-tans, we've done it before so are very relaxed about such encounters, walking in relatively open areas so we can see and be seen and don't startle people, carefully observing body language as we approach so we can cover up if they appear uncomfortable, and ensuring that we always exchange friendly greetings.

John

Great that all went well and you had good weather - shame there was only the four of you, but four is enough for people to accept, I'm sure they would have been even more accepting if there were some women as well.

I had an 8 mile naked walk today and met the warden on route, she confirmed that there had been no problems over the summer and no problems reported about the naked walk last Sunday. She told me that someone had seen us and told her but they were not complaining or concerned about it. I met a few people while out today and everyone was very nice and not in the least bit bothered that I was naked.

Well done for a successful walk on Sunday. But three quarters of a marathon is more like a route March than a walk. 8-10 miles is more than enough for me.

AliGriff,

Yes, we discussed that. I think we concluded that when necessary we could organise walks in a "figure of eight" so that those who wanted a shorter walk could drop out after the first loop and those who wanted a longer walk could continue for the second loop.

It would seem to be a shame to scare off those who would actually enjoy the shorter walk...

What do you think?

John

I don't live near Sherwood Forest, but friends of the earth are circulating a petition in opposition to facking in the forest, if anyones interested. Can be found on their website.
