Is there anyone out there who can provide me with some details of the Naturist Ramblers group who operate in the south-east of England. I would like to contact the organisers so see if they have a programme planned for 2018.

They are a well organised group. I joined them on one of their walks, the one closest to the Midlands and had a great day out. Their web site may be found here

Thanks Davie...good to hear you enjoyed the experience. I'm hoping to give it a try next year - needless to say when the weather gets a bit better!

They ticked the boxes on safety and organisation and are not confrontational with non-naturists, covering up where ever possible. One person suddenly came into view from a side path but he was quit OK with us. Expect a couple of stops, for lunch and an afternoon break. The walk I did started at about 12.00  and ended about six, eleven miles later with about ten being naked. It was a great day out

I have been in touch with the person who organises walks in the south-east of England and says he is in the process of organising the walks for 2018 but I was wondering if anyone has had past experience of going on one of the walks he has organised in the past i.e. practical tips on what to take etc.

Take what you'd normally take on a walk, boots, clothing suitable for the expected weather, food and drink and a wrap to cover up with. If you have one it might be interesting to have a map of the area but they will cater for navigation.

As they normally start and finish at a pub you might want some dosh for a drink and after the walk a meal, but stopping is not mandatory.

As always...good advice. Many thanks. I know you shouldn't wish your life away but I am now really looking forward to my first group walk next year.

Harry,

What Davie said!

I have been on 3 or 4 walks. I think pretty much everyone uses a backpack to take the items listed by Davie. If I'm going for a walk I prefer to go further without stopping (e.g. 15 to 20 miles) and just take water and something to cover up. But, NatRam go a lot slower and only go about 11 miles with a couple of stops. You will probably want sandwiches or biscuits for the lunch and tea stops. Some people take a little box of salad or something similar. The stops are quite leisurely.

I recommend a mobile phone with the Viewranger App (or similar) as you can record the route and then display it on a map (e.g. on your laptop or tablet) later. (Of course, you have to remember to start and stop the recording!)

I think its worth adding that Nat Ram usually met at a pub, so that walkers can have a drink (if they want one) before starting off, usually at 12.00hrs. At the end of the walk at say around 18.30hrs (although this can obviously vary) they return to the pub and there is an option for walkers to stay for a meal, something which at least half of the number out on a given day do.

Gents,

The advice is much appreciated.

John,

I take note of what you said about the distances but as this will be my first group outing I will probably stick to the shorter distance with the group...tempting though it may be, if the weather is good, to go further.

Hi Guys,

The 2018 Naturist Ramblers Walks Programme will be available on their website towards to end of January 2018.  It will feature 18 walks, with just under half of them featuring short options.

The Programme will be very similar to the walks that we did in 2017 so have a look at the website you get an idea of the type of walks and locations covered.

Anybody interested in trying out a Nat Ram walk should contact the walks organiser mentioning the walk that they would like to try.  The will then be emailed the meet-up instructions for that walk plus comprehensive general information and guidelines for the walks in general.
