Anyone know of naturist areas or beaches mid Lincolnshire?

Technically all beaches are clothes optional.  Mid Lincolnshire has  Theddlethorpe, (between Mablethorpe and Saltfleet) which has been used by naturists in the past.  A bit further up is NorthCoates, again never official status but regularly used by naturists.  There is plenty of info about both on 'tinternet.  I've not been to Theddlethorpe yet so can't review it. Lots of info on here though if you do a search.

North coates is the only true unofficial nudist beach (if you google it there are many sites listing how to get there - I've never been. Since there are over 26 miles of beach its not very hard to find private areas where no one is that bothered - I often go nude near north Threddlethorpe but away from the main access areas - some clothed people do walk past as they walk along the sea line and even set-up within 30 meters or so, but never had an issue. The thing to be very aware off is there are very large areas where there are a lot of people (use google maps satellite view) and its best to avoid those, plus the beaches are quite muddy in some areas - not quite quick sand and typically since the beach slopes very slowly - the sea can be a very very long way out.

Thanks, I was wondering if that stretch would be. It is rare to see anyone down that end.

Quick update on Northcotes.  I went there today. The car park was flooded. I walked up as far as I could and there are works going on.  The public right of way has been closed until at least September 2018.  There were no suitable places before the closed off bit. Very disappointing.

I think you are best just finding a nice spot on any beach.  They are big enough so as not to have to be too close to anyone. As long as you are not doing anything you shouldn't, it would be wrong for you to be arrested, especially if the police are doing their job properly. ;D

Quick update on Northcotes.  I went there today. The car park was flooded. I walked up as far as I could and there are works going on.  The public right of way has been closed until at least September 2018.  There were no suitable places before the closed off bit. Very disappointing.

See my recent review of this place under 'Naturist Adventures'. Perhaps posted in the wrong section with hindsight.

There is no public right of way northwards from the car park to Northcotes.  It is a permissive way and although the 'official' permissive way is closed, it was possible when I visited last month to follow a well-trodden 'unofficial' path that runs up to the construction works.  A gap had been left for walkers to pass through the works (which is an access road to the beach only) and not itself part of the works.  From there, walk northwards and follow the edge of the sand dunes.  Once about half a mile beyond the works, the beach was open and freely accessible when I went there and no-one about apart from a couple in the dunes.

Unless circumstances have changed within the last few weeks, this area is still accessible to enjoy.  I'm surprised about the car park, however, which was totally dry at the time of my visit, as was the surrounding area.  In fact, I gained the impression the sea had not been that far 'in' for weeks. Perhaps check the tide times before travelling.

On the question of Theddlethorpe, I walked up there from Mablethorpe a fortnight ago.  Further north towards Saltby and away from the beach entrance, I couldn't see any naturists myself along that stretch of beach and accordingly (reluctantly) didn't strip off.  However, upon reconnoitring the sand dunes, there seemed to be around half a dozen or so people either partially or completely naked.  They did not appear to be naturists and from their actions, I gained the impression they were on the lookout for hook-ups etc.  I hoped to find fellow naturists along that section of beach which would have given me the confidence to follow suit but the above activity was not something I wished to be associated with.

Thanks for that Simon. Yes you are quite right. The path is a permissive way.  There was a notice informing users that it was closed until at least September 2018 for safety reasons.  When I went, (this Sunday) there didn't seem to be a way through although maybe if the tide had been out, I could have possibly got through somehow. There was a fence erected which went out into the sea and works were in progress so I didn't pursue it any further.
As I said, the tide was right in and the car park was at least two thirds flooded. I parked just over the hump in the road on the grass. I've never seen it like that before and was very surprised!

Simon - often dune areas seem to be frequented by mainly men there for other reasons (I know a generalisation), but one of the reasons so many nudist beaches ban the use of the dunes. As stated above I frequent Theddlethorpe several times a year sometimes just me and the dog, or my wife, dog and me - normally I always go naked, my wife not (dog is always naked). We always go to the sea line (typically 1/2 mile from the shore line) and further north from the dunes, and always pick a remote spot (I'm there for the sea not anything else, so don't want anyone around me). I do naked walks along the sea line and swims as well as lying in the sun - on occasions others may come close enough to see I'm naked, but never had a problem.

JMNude Thanks for your views regarding Theddlethorpe. I'm glad to hear naturists still use this stretch of beach which is a lovely place in suitable weather.

Not being familiar with this place my last visit was primarily to look it over and judge the opportunities for naturism. I prefer the comfort of knowing there are like-minded people in the vicinity but I will definitely consider stripping off along the sea line next time.

Hit both North Cotes and Theddlethorpe yesterday, with two very different experiences.

Started at North Cotes and suffered the same difficulty finding access that many others have. After an hour and a half of wondering about we gave up. In retrospect I suppose we should have overcome our obedience to signage (the Wildfowl club's) and walked across the marsh and along the beach, like the sign specifically asks you not to. Always feeling like being out and about naked means being an advocate for naturism and exemplar for it, we chose not to do that, although from the sea wall we did see a naked chap who'd done just that. I guess we make our own decisions. We did see a few dogwalkers and presumed textiles reach the sign and turn back like we did, which must explain why the naturists there find it so quiet!

Considering the noise and disturbance of the windfarm construction it didn't feel like a very peaceful or pleasant place at any rate. We all have our own tastes, it just seemed like going there means opting for beach that isn't particularly nice, just for the sake of being naked there. We tend to want a bit better.

So we gave up, and bombed on down the coast to Theddlethorpe which was much nicer. I couldn't remember what the naturist info about the beach was, so all we did was walk 50 yards north and then straight out toward the sea, and settled on a dry sandbar nearest to the sea. We were hundreds of yards from anybody else, and only one textile couple walked and they were distant. Apart from that it pretty much required binoculars to see other people. Being out there meant being exposed to the breeze which was fine yesterday because of the warm air, very obvious how very different it could be on other days. So we relaxed, explored, walked, sunbathed, watched the wildlife, paddled and generally enjoyed the peace and quiet. Being such a wide open somewhat featureless beach and the feeling of almost being alone there, it had a bleakness that was quite beautiful. The beach itself does have areas where silt from the Humber makes it more mud than sand, and the water looks like a sort of chocolaty soup. For those reasons I doubt we'll go there again because we like to swim if we can, and that water still heaving with sediment does not much invite you in. We did see a textile woman go for a swim, honestly, I'm not sure how much she enjoyed it.

A nice day out, we just wouldn't do it again, not for naturist reasons anyway. There are C/O beaches like Holkham, Slapton and others in the UK which are every bit as nice as any quiet textile beach, but honestly, these ones on the Lincolnshire coast, North Cotes, Theddlethorpe, it really feels where we're away from the nicer, sandier beaches toward Skegness and left with the less inviting beaches to the north. Sandcastles and dips in the sea? Not really, you gotta go elsewhere. The only box that's ticked is the one about literally being outdoors naked, if that's all you require for a few hours, then fair enough, enjoy!

Good spot for birds though, that'd why we'd visit another time.

(More and more our naturist outings involve looking on OS maps for what look like quiet, interesting, scenic places and going there to explore, rather than travelling to sometimes dreary official or unofficial naturist locations. Maybe this trip explains why.)
