Great clean beach, super clear warm sea that isn't tidal so always a short walk. Very relaxed attitude, nudists in one main area but with around 4 miles of beach plenty of opportunities to get stripped off. Mind the dune area as it is frequented by mainly gay men looking for attention.

Interesting information - thanks!  🙂

I haven't been to Sunny Beach, or indeed Bulgaria, but had heard about it previously.

Is it easy to locate the naturist area?

Cheers

It is very easy to locate, the main beach has a nudist area near I river inlet, there were also beaches at Varna & Nessebar that were nudist beaches

This area around the river inlet also happens to be the only area of the beach which is not super duper crowded during the most active season. It is also the only area which is so clean. This is all because this is the only part of the beach where there aren't hundreds of hotels right next to it, but instead there is a small forest along the river. Otherwise the sand is perfect, the sea is clean and nice. The only thing that some may find disturbing is that the nudist area is small and surrounded by non-nudist beaches, so there is a constant flow of dressed people walking by, gazing and staring. Personally I don't care about this, so I had a great time there last summer, but some people prefer more isolated beaches where they can go with family friends, kids and other couples for example. Sunny Beach is a big resort more appropriate for young people looking for fun and socializing. Of course, that doesn't mean that if you are not such a person you cannot have fun there too.

For those who are interested in visiting Bulgaria for nudism, here is a map of all the nudist beaches there:

I have been to most of them, so feel free to ask if you need more info about a specific beach. They are all very different and each has it's own pros and cons, but I believe there is something for every taste.

Wow - great information - thanks!

I'd no idea there were quite so many beaches used by naturists in Bulgaria.

I wish there was a 'like' button on here, because your post certainly deserves it.

Unfortunately the number of such beaches is slowly but steadily decreasing as evil "entrepreneurs" are conquering them and building non-nudists hotels and resorts next to some of them. A poor business strategy as some of these beaches once were a preferred tourist destination for all nudists from Eastern Europe and were always full of people, even without all the resort infrastructure and hotels next to them. Instead, now that they are being turned into a non-nudist beaches, some of them remain barely visited, even though they are great beaches, as they are located in unpopular (for the non-nudists) locations.

Imagine, if those investors had more than two brain cells and they were not trying to build huge luxury half empty hotels, trying to attract non-nudist tourists to a place which has been used only by nudists for decades, but instead they built big nudist resorts there. These would have been some of the most visited nudists resorts in Europe and they would have been crowded by visitors (customers) from all over the continent. Investors would return their investments in no time and nudists would be happy too. But some people just do not know how to do business.

Too true, also the cost of living over in Bulgaria is so cheap. Ee found 2 could eat out for less than £20 including drinks. So great place to visit
