Never had naturism used in that way in my experience thankfully but the classic this last summer (not totally related to your topic sorry but need to rant) was the one time we went to Fraisthorpe for the afternoon because it was logistically convenient, and having the usual huge mutt off a lead (they are never small) making a nuisance of himself over the towels behind our windbreak, having to shout him away and having his female owner huffily saying 'it is a dog beach' to which we retorted, 'no it is a beach for everybody dear.'

And my family used to have a dog but many dog owners these days like so many other sectors of society appear to have a huge sense of entitlement and arrogance.

I wasn't immune at Broadlands. The rules are quite minimal, one being that dogs should be kept on a lead on site and yet in the second half of the week a couple visited with yet another large mutt making his presence felt, gambolling around, jumping up at me and attempting to go into our tent and the woman saying 'he's very friendly.' Ah right. She also had to make an asinine comment passing when it was raining 'I feel sorry for you in that tent.' Er, we had a nice sitting area, we had electric and heat, we were warm and dry, had food from the village takeaway, wine in a box and had digital radio, WiFi and a library of books on kindle. And at least we didn't have to share it with a large wet stupid dog.

I can no longer suffer fools gladly, my tolerance level is decreasing as my age increases.

Little story here. Both my wife and I were on Studland yesterday. It’s wasn't the sunniest of days and it was heading towards teatime.

Both my wife and I where chilling in the dunes and my wife was just dozing off. I had noted two young boys heading our way in the dunes, as they reached they suddenly started screaming their heads and ran right past us in excitement.

The noise startled my wife and she immediately sat up and looks to see that it was all about.

The boys continued to run through the dunes.

We looked around and we saw their parents walking along the beach close to the dunes. We asked if they could keep their boys under control and they responded that “it is a nudist beach they are allowed”.

We just looked at each other and thought what the hell has that got to do with it?

Before anyone asks the parents and kids were not nude and looked like they were returning back to their car with the beach stuff.

I wonder if her comment about it being a nudist beach was possibly acknowledging that she was aware that nudity could be expected and that she wasn't concerned that her children may encounter it, ie. they were 'allowed' to wander.  Although you and your wife were disturbed by their noise, it may not be a bad thing if so.

We too feel there is a positive to this in that these parents apparently did not mind their boys encountering naturists - we hear far too much about children potentially being shocked by the sight of naked bodies.

We spend so much time defending the right of naturists to do the naturist thing on our beaches. Let's not be too hasty to object to kids being kids. Unless they are kicking sand into my picnic, taking photos or being abusive, I would let them be. It sounds as though they passed by pretty quickly, and their scream was presumably meant to startle you because your hideaway had been rumbled and they were hoping you would entertain them by scrabbling for something to cover up with.
I hope your presence there gives them food for thought as they mature and ponder the idea of being naked in the dunes themselves one day.

Sometimes someone consider naturist places as a "free zone" where general rules have not to be applied. Maybe noisy kids are not a such relevant issue, but it's interesting that their parents object that their behaviour should not be tolerated simply because they are kids but because of the place where they are, as if naturists had less right to be respected than others.
A few times we had similar experiences to those reported by Brigitte with dogs and I agree their owners are sometimes arrogant, even if naturists.

Yes, I saw them salter up to us and then they started shouting. The fact that we were nude was totally irrelevant. I was just surprised that the excuse the parents gave was that it was ok because it was a naturist beach.

It's difficult to understand without having been there. Was it possible that the parents were only aware that the kids had made loud noises of excitement at seeing something different/interesting? Children are – almost by definition – inexperienced and immature. Everything is deeply interesting and feelings are not masked (as an adult might do), so parents become familiar with enthusiasm for discovery and learning (and all its attendant questions).

But it would be a different matter if they were shouting abuse at you. That isn't typical or welcome, and – if the parents were aware – should be addressed. As you noted, being naked is not an invitation for abuse.

No no.... Just putting on record one particular occurrence of annoyance.

Unfortunately there is going to be a knee op which will hopefully happen sooner rather than later next year but it may still mean naturist activity being curtailed for much of the summer.

As owners of a small (very) dog, we are very conscious of our responsibilities  regarding keeping her under control and picking up her mess and disposing of it responsibly. I do sympathise with Brigitte though, as there are a lot of dog owners who are as she has discribed.
I cant sympathise  with  the OP though, I dont think any of us have the right not to hear children on a beach, naturist or otherwise.

I really wish there WERE more children on the beaches naturist or not. It would curtail a lot of activity which is not naturist.

I like dogs more than many humans but some owners want slapping.

There are no ..........* dogs, only ............* owners.
