We went to Charco last year, it was our second visit, the first about six years ago. It is a great concept, to be able to go about the village naked is wonderful, but i do fear for the place. I read somwhere that as the original owners of properties are getting older , the tendancy to be naked as the norm is reducing. Indeed we found out that the British couple who owned the property opposite the one we were renting were not naturists. They owned a business away from the village, and baught their bungalow because it was a good price.
Fair enough the weather wasnt great on our last visit,  but I saw very few people walking around naked away from the coast. Also there is only one bar that now allows customers to be naked, and that is only outside.

Places to eat and drink naked are not now as restrictive as Dev experienced. I guess they went before Reiner's closed (never OK with nudity indoors and we understand it even seemed to go textile outdoors in the period before he retired.) Anyway, the good news is it has now re-opened as Lili's.  Jardin Tropical is OK with nudity indoors or out.  Cueva Paloma tends to require clothing in the main part of the restaurant but we've been nude on the outdoor level.

Devman, according to Wendy at Nudelanza, Reiner has sold up and the pub is in the process of reopening as a naturist friendly pub again, hopefully this is true as I thought Reiners decision to not accept naturist patrons in a naturist village was a crazy idea

When I was there many years ago it was "Peter's Pub" and nudity was allowed everywhere during the day and on the terrace in the evening.
I also remember a naked Sunday lunch on the Romantica restaurant's terrace. As I remember it this was the only restaurant there to which people came from outside the village.
I had to cover myself to go inside and use the toilet.

We did research the area well before booking, the recent changes to the local pub/cafe sealing the deal.

We will report back on what’s what on our return (or even when there, WiFi depending).

We are into our second week at Charco. We are staying at Las Piteras ( the last few block on the bottom left of the map)

An update on the facilities. We were told on arrival that nudity is accepted everywhere except the shop and restaurants, we have found out that both restaurants are naturist friendly but as they are only open in the evenings it’s not been warm enough yet to remain naked, even for a Scottish couple.

I walk (or drive) naked to the shop every morning and put shorts on before going in, I’ve never seen anyone naked in there, but I did see a couple of cock-shirters (as Lorna has taken to calling them) so not sure if it’s just the cooler weather keeping people from going in nude.  It’s in the low 20’s most days, with the wind if feels cooler but perfectly fine if sheltered. Thankfully our pool is.

The shop is much larger than we were expecting. There is fresh baked bread every morning, fresh fruit and veg and a great selection of beers, wines and spirits. It’s possible to live out the shop for a fortnight, the only thing it doesn’t have is fresh meat. Like chicken breast or mince.

We’ve eaten in both restaurants. Lili’s is the new one, they don’t have much of a menu yet, only 10 items written on a chalk board. We had the onion soup to start which was nice. Then we asked what the Jägerschnitzel was, and was told it was flattened pork in breadcrumbs with a gravy. That’s what we both ordered.... we got steak and chips. The only dessert was tiramisu so we didn’t bother. The meal and a couple of beers was €50

In the other Jardin Tropical had a proper menu with about three times the choice, the food was ok, but not great or even well presented. Again €50.

If these two were back home I wouldn’t recommend either, but as it’s all we have. Use them or loose them seems to be the local attitude.

The prices in the shop and restaurants are comparable with the bigger towns.

We would come back, and knowing what we know now would only change a couple of things about our choice of apartment. The ones we are in are fine, but our terrace overlooking the pool, only gets the sun in the morning, so would definitely go for the sea front room next time.

Not much else to add, we both love being able to walk around the town nude. It’s new for us.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your stay in CDP. Have you tried sunbathing at either the Duck Pond or the Bath Tub (the terraced sea swimming pool almost directly in front of your apartment)? Unfortunately both can be a bit uncomfortable if the wind is blowing directly from the sea.
We are hoping to visit CDP later on this year if we don't go to Vera Playa

The Bath Tub is directly in front of our appatment, we’ve not been in the sea yet, but it is very popular area, with many more people using it than the larger Duck Pond. They booth look fantastic. It’s a very beautiful and rugged coastline. The absence of a beach doesn’t deter people from sunbathing along it.

We've had two recent holidays at CDP, staying at the very well equipped Casa Rubi at the Duck Pond end of the village. Lovely to be able to walk naked along the coast line to the Bath Tub, especially in January!  The shop is impressively stocked for its size but I agree the restaurants are so-so.  But if you drive out to other eateries you can't really drink so it's still good to have them in the village if you don't want to self-cater all the time.

Just be careful at the Duck Pond.  Unless it has changed in the last couple of years the bottom is "painted" and is lethally slippery if you don't hold the rail when entering.  I came a cropper right at the edge.  No broken bones luckily but some nasty bruising.

We managed to get into both the Bath Tub and Duck Pond today, the water was warmer than the pool, but still cold. Well worth it though.

Steve, The Duck pond now has a layer of grit on the bottom, don’t know if it was put there deliberate or just natural ocean deposit. It’s not slippy anymore but much eaasier to walk in and out of than the Tub.

I'm curious .. you mention two restaurants and say you've eaten in Jardin Tropical and Lili's but not mentioned Cueva Paloma - has it closed?

We are only aware of two open restaurants in the town and one closed one the Tuneria I believe it was called, but that’s been shut down for a few years.

The town info in our room does not mention any others.

Where was cueva, I’ll ask around tomorrow.
