Hi

Were going to a holiday cottage very near Widemouth bay.

Does anyone know if/where the nearest naturist beaches would be?

I'm happy with unofficial as long as no meerkats or other weirdness.

Thanks in advance.
Notts.

“Flexbury” is a stretch of coastline about half a mile to the north of “Northcott Mouth” and ¾ a mile south of “Sandy Mouth”. Parking is available above the beach at Northcott Mouth and Sandy Mouth walk about half a mile to the north/south of the beach respectively.

Both these beaches are just North of Bude.

Have you tried Hawkers Cove near Padstow? large expanse of beach and always been deserted when I've been there.

Not sure if it's still used, but Strangles beach a couple miles south of Crackington Haven used to be an unofficial nuturist spot.  It's a *long* way down to get to it though and I haven't seen it for a good 20 years.

Thanks Jesse. That's closer to wide mouth bay than some of the others places mentioned so could well give that a go.

I know this is an old thread but in case anyone is planning on coming back this way next year, I can put a local perspective on beaches in these parts.

The Strangles nr Crackington Haven, is the place to go as long as you are fit for the walk. It's a fantastic big beach, epsecially when the tide is out. Although unoffical, naturist useage of the far right handside cove (Little Strand) is very well established  but it gets cut off by high tide. In recent years there's a growing naturist use of the main Strangles beach as well, generally up the right hand side too. Because of its location the beach is never busy with anyone, but will find a number of textiles and a few naturists there on any given sunny day.

Flexbury "beach" - no such place exists but I think people mean the stretch between Crooklets Beach in Bude and Norhtcott beach to the north. Flexbury is inland behind this but I don't think there is any access apart from the above mentioned beaches. I don't really think it can be called a naturist beach and you are unlikely to find another natuirst there, but when the tide is out, its no doubt possible to do a bit of naked sunbathing at the back of the beach. To go skinny dipping yo'd probably have to pass a few dog walkers etc who often will be on that part when the tide is out. All perfectly legal and doable but as I say it's not really known local as a naturist beach.

Apart from the main town beaches and Widemouth Bay, there are many little coves along the N Devon / N Cornish coast that you could probably find a suitable undisturbed spot in, but The Strangles is the known naturuist beach.

Shadowchaser above mentioned Skeleton Bay - that's a new one to me, so would like to hear more please.
