Coincidentally I was literally just reading this article: https://www.bn.org.uk/news/information/about-bn/british-naturism-acquisition-of-sunfolk-a-bright-future-for-naturism-r636/

So yes. They have.

Think this is good news and the way to go for BN.  I've long thought the organisations reserves were too large and didn't justify the cost of membership fees.

BN need large reserves to be able to pay for lawyers, and to threaten to go to court, which is what saved Holkham Beach for naturists.

Sunfolk is a lovely little club. We joined soon after our first experience of naturism on Brighton Beach about 40 years ago and were members for about 10 years. We remember it with fondness. All our children attended with us. Sadly we are a bit too far away to visit regularly

@normanw

Completely accept there needed to be reserves for legals, equipment & contingency, however not £210k that has almost doubled in three years.

@ibi2004

They'll need all that and more if they are to do anything worthwhile with the Sunfolk club.

@gwalterj

I presume, they see it as an income generator (in a post coronavirus world) an access to finance and an ambassador for promoting naturism, thus reserves shouldn't play a huge part.

For me, this is certainly an action which would be make me consider becoming a member again, it's not enough as I still don't think it's value for money, but certainly a step in the right direction and definitely a positive.

£210,000 is not a very big reserve in this day and age. With some fixed overheads and an unexpected situation (like coronavirus) the money very quickly evaporates. Had there not been an offer to bailout 80% of salary costs you dont need too many staff before the money is severely depleted. High reserves just indicates good financial planning and a robust position.

I agree with the very that BN need to start investing in land sites to promote the adoption, but I’d love them to have sites based in group types eg, family based sites, ones for older generation. We don’t all go to buttons and we all don’t go to Warner Hotels and we definitely all don’t go camping.

Perhaps BN needs to set up a dedicated separate  sites fund, to buy sites that are at risk and then instead of running them themselves lease them back to operators.

This is what we started 30 years ago in hang gliding and now at least 8 sites that would otherwise have been lost are now owned by BHPA member clubs

The BHPA sites fund is run as a voluntary donation add-on to standard membership.

BN are asking £50 a night to camp with electric. That is around double most other sites. Not sure how many would be willing to pay that.
