This is a really pleasant beach which we've used for 20 years. It's just to the west of Cotobro which itself is near Almunecar. See Google Maps at https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@36.7312844,-3.7188953,1213m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en-GB&authuser=0
We've used it in May, June and September on weekdays and it's never crowded; it can be quite empty on some days. There is sand close to the sea and into the sea but it's mainly small pebbles mixed with sand. A towel is enough to make it quite comfortable to lie on.
There is a small car park (10 cars or so) plus roadside parking on the hill running back up to the autovia. It's then a gentle 10 minute walk along a raised concrete pathway adjacent to the sea, across a small beach with a mix of clothed and naked people, another short raised pathway and then Playa el Muerto itself.
Swimming and snorkelling are good and safe except perhaps on rough days. There are no facilities except for a rubbish bin and sometimes a small, rather rustic arrangement with a few sunbeds and umbrellas and a small hut selling drinks; it's very seasonal.
The beach is listed on the Spanish Naturist Federation (FEN) webiste.
