With little to do at the moment I’ve started playing with a photo editing app on my phone. I do not have an artistic bone in my body, but I’ve managed to come up with some images that I quite like. Such as this one:

which is is based on a photo of me enjoying the balcony of our hotel in Fuerteventura last October.

However all I’ve done is play around with some of the buttons on the app, exploring what they do and accidentally landed on something I thought looked quite good. So does it count as art? I think whether it does or does not I enjoy it, and they’re really only for me own entertainment so that’s all that matters.

If Marcel Duchamp's urinal is art the I don't see why not.

It's great fun to play around with photography, which is why Photoshop and many other editing systems are so popular.

The image looks really good and I'm not getting into "is it art" or not.

I once had a very heated argument with someone about the relationship of art and photography. We ended up agreeing to not agree but it was almost very nasty.

Maturity has mellowed me thank goodness!

What is art? Its a question that is constantly being asked, does it really matter. I would suggest art, like naturism, can be looked upon in many ways. Art is a pleasure to enjoy, as is being naked. I liked the special effects you discovered on your phone, you liked it so that's all that matters

Being naked is one of the simple joys of life.

Grayson Perry would think so!

Keep on with it!

It could be that anything created by human hands that looks beautiful or enriches us visually could be termed as art.

I'm thinking of architecture as well as traditional forms of "art" and certainly some manmade landscapes are very pleasing setting off feelings very much like seeing the work of a painter or sculptor.

Art, like beauty is maybe very much in the eye and mind of those who see it.  My trips to Tate Liverpool for example can be a mixture of delight revulsion and indifference, but others there will feel the same as me for very different reasons.

From what I recall Art is anything that doesn’t have any functional component.
By that definition my Alfa Romeo Spider is definitely art 😆

Art has a strong sense of communication, which, to my definition, is essential. If I look at what someone has done and I get something from it, fine. If I don't, fine too - I probably missed the point. If you have to explain what you were trying to get across, then I think you need to have another go - Mr DuChamp please take note 😴
