I'm off to Hayfield CCC site next weekend and wondered I'd anyone could recomend a good quiet walk in the area. I was up there last year and it was very busy. I don't mind seeing people but prefer a less populated walk when possible.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Tricky. Kinder Scout and Kinder Reservoir always seem to have plenty of people around, most seem to come from Edale side. Walking up out of Hayfield is at least the quieter approach, and if you carry on north crossing the Penine Way and explore up the Snake Path you should get away from most other walkers (the majority seem to use other routes to loop around Kinder Low). The path along The Edge to Fairbrook Naze is another quieter option, if somewhat more exposed to the elements.

Either way it's a decent walk out of Hayfield to get past the reservoir first.

So headed up past the reservoir Saturday afternoon, decided not to go to the top of Kinder and turned left onto the Pennine Way, managed to walk for a couple of hours without meeting anyone else, surprisingly, was a bit on the windy side though and struggled not to be blown over at times.

Managed  a quick dip in one of the pools on the way back down, water was freezing.

That quiet on the Pennine Way? That is surprising, sort of good to know but disappointing at the same time. It's lovely up there, what's wrong with people? So much more pleasant than what has become of Kinder Scout.

Your right, the masses were climbing the steps so I turned right and saw no one for quite a while. Think the wind put some folk off and it was about 5 pm before I headed back down. Views over Manchester were good though.
