It's going to be my first time at winterton dunes from 6th June to 12th for a holiday at Hemsby if there is anyone who knows things about the place it would be appreciated.. I'm also single so if there is any single females that would like to join me for a sunbathe that would be a experience.

Hi,

I usually stay in Winterton so no need for bus. However, there are regular buses going through the village.

Was a great cafe at the beach carpark but that got washed away last winter. They also ran the car park so interested to know if that has changed.

Luckily can walk from the cottage but wonder if will change the textiles habits.

Groynes are painted with numbers and someone has put on here which numbers to head for. We used to just head to the first stone ones but now others have been installed over the wooden. However, done think really matters as seen nude bathers the whole length over the years.

Most people go in the dunes but i prefer to be on the beach. Only ever had one woman get stressed about seeing naked people but suppose upsetting one person is one too many. Usually it is fine.

@bigs43uk I have just checked and there is a bus but you have to walk about 15 mins for a 10 mins bus and another 40 mins walk to the naturist section. Otherwise it’s about a 1.5 hour walk on foot along the beach from the holiday centre about 4 miles! I do not know the area well enough but hopefully someone else might know a better way!

British Naturism have designated the naturist section between groynes 47 to 55.

@marshalldrwthank you for that I'll be getting a bus from Hemsby to winterton on sea so that'll be hard to guess how many groynes from winterton on sea that is lol is there any signs so that I will know.

@bigs43uk all the groynes are numbered and the numbers are clearly visible! I go to the Horsey beach car park and the nearest groyne. Is either 37 or 38. The Winterton beach will probably be around the 75 mark as the area for the naturist section is in the middle of those two car parks, away from any amenities and less likely to have young families in that section and not likely to offend anyone! 😎

Just be aware that new groynes have been installed and the numbers painted on them are not official. They are painted on for the tracking and numbering of the seals. Usually repainted in September by volunteers for the up coming winter.

If you walk from Winterton you will come to the first groyne, which is wooden where the beach is at its smallest. I have seen nude bathers from here onwards. I usually keep walking to the second Groyne after the first gap in the sea wall. Never had any problems at all from here on. Some lovely days here with families enjoying a skinner dip (three generations together) and couples.

In the mornings, early in July, I have walked all the way from Winterton to here naked without seeing a soul. Pure bliss.

Don't count the older groynes that are further in to the shore and almost completely covered over with sand.

@barebarmey quite shocking to see that part is 7 miles from Hemsby which is where I will be and due to ripped knee ligaments I can't walk that far but if it's worth the tan I will get a bus to winterton on sea then go from there if it means having a quiet beach lol

Still a good walk from Winterton but you can cut it shorter by cutting the corner off and going through the dunes. Loads of paths never seem to do the same way twice.
