Hi,
I went to Madeira a couple of years ago and could not find any naturist beaches; in fact there are no beaches as such because the coast is rugged and rocky.
I was saying in a hotel and did not find anywhere for public naturism but if you are staying in a villa you may have your own spot.

I asked this question a year or two back when I visited Madeira.  I even contacted the local tourist office and was told in no uncertain terms that public nudity was illegal there.  I was told the "Hotel Garden Atlantico" had a naturist terrace, other hotels may allow ladies to go topless but you would need to check.  That aside Madeira is a nice island with a lot to see, we really liked Levada walking.  I found Madiera wine pleasant tasting but it does go to your head!

In January it will be like our spring not really warm enough for sunning it; don't forget the Canaries are further south.
