Some are more brave than others. Running Bear made the comment, one is a threat, two gay but three are a company. If you walk in a group then there is strength in numbers.

I've only walked solo and like you do not wish to cause upset. There's plenty of posts on this site about whether or not people could/should be offended but that's another issue.  I enjoy the hills and go naked when I can. I believe in the maxim, if you can't see what others are wearing they cannot see what you are not.  😕

As you will be anxious not to be seen naked the chances are you will see others before they see you, so go for it,     [smiley=thumbsup.gif]   it's a wonderful feeling of freedom. I'm sure you have some wonderful country up north, just mind the midges!

Thanks for the reply Davie, some very useful advice, I never thought about the "if you can't see what others are wearing" idea! There is some lovely countryside up here and I am keen to experience the air all over!

The trick to my mid is finding places that other people are unlikely to visit. Even at local beauty spots there are areas that most people wont explore..

take a path into a remote area, then wander away from the well trodden path. Explore a little way away from known routes and you will find extraordinarily wonderful places with very little risk of there being anyone else around.
Even experienced "textile" walkers tend to stick to known routes. There is , as always the risk that someone has decided to venture further than usual, but as with most enjoyable things in life, there is a risk/reward situation.

Also walking naked is best done when most other people are at work, ie mid week, I find. Luckily my work situation allows for time off when most people are working  so its a good opportunity.

My 3 hour walk earlier this week, was in an area that is well know and not very remote, but I discovered a part of it during a bank holiday weekend walk (clothed) where , even on a busy weekend , no one was around. A revisit on a Tuesday morning was in my mind as safe as it gets.

The more you try the more relaxed you feel about it and the better it gets, as you can enjoy the situation rather than feeling tense about it.

Should the worst happen (it hasn't to me - yet) and you are seen, or met a "textile" walker at the end of the day the world wont stop turning and something like a "hi nice day for a walk" will , I think, diffuse most situations. Its not as if you're "flashing" or making untoward advances.

From what I have read/heard being nude in it its self is not an offence.   

my advice would be ...

1) be careful
2) relax about it and enjoy yourself
3) Do it. Life is too short to think about things too long.

People rarely wander more than about a few KM away from their cars so there are wild places that you can be on your own. Be careful if you go into the 'wilderness' that you have the skills to be safe (maps, compass, first aid kit. food, drink). A simple sheet or sarong will cover up rapidly and if you see a person in the distance you will have ample time to cover-up. If you cannot see them, they cannot see you. Good view points are better than woodlands as a textile could be lurking behind a bush to pounce on you. Moorland or trig points are good areas. Police are rarely a problem since few of them are found in the 'wilderness' and they have better things to do. It is also not illegal to be naked. Taking a dog is useful as they have heightened senses although do decimate my Cream eggs and pasties. Google earth is a good tool to review sites (check out the location of the burger van for my next walk mentioned in the shoutbox 🙂
Be confident that you are normal and the textiles are the wierdos and you will enjoy yourself in nature as only a naturist can.

This makes a very important point.

We are walkers primarily enjoying the countryside and have the stories of a social activity to recount. We just all happen to be naturists.

The problem is being restricted to a small island, and always the chance of an encounter. I envy the Yanks with their vast amount of space to explore without those worries.

but they don't have the lovely by-ways and footpaths we have and they love signs "Keep Out"  "Private" etc. The US is great and have some smashing places and people but it isn't all "greener over the hill"

I would also like to try nude walking with company. Providing I felt safe and it was in a place that, I would never meet anyone, or at least if I did meet a clothed person, I had someone to hide behind while I slipped on my clothes. :-[

Having read a number of postings on the subject of walking, it seems than it is only males, perhaps I have missed the photos with females in.

Are we, females allowed on these nude walks?

I have walked with a female friend (clothed) and did visit Exmore; I have also been walking in Cumbria and saw Hadrian’s Wall.

Naturism is for all, male, female, young, old and anything in between. I'm sure a group with a female in will be seen as far less threatening to clothed walkers that either a single, pair or group of male (only) walkers would be.

I'd love to be out walking naked more than time allows but I think I'd be right in thinking most naked groups would welcome you into their midst.

Ladies are always welcome on all walks, and the SSB have had ladies join our walks, clothed or not. All are welcome the only proviso is that you accept that other walkers will be naked.
