We fancy trying a couple of night at Acorns in our campervan - does anyone know if they accept well behaved dogs (with well behaved owners - we always keep her on a lead and 'scoop')?

Adam,
Acorns website states:

Well behaved dogs are welcome. You are asked to poop scoop and keep your dog under control at all times and on a lead if live stock are present.

Yes, Acorns tolerate dogs. Andy and Kathy are not dog lovers but they do run a smallholding, with sheep, ducks, chickens etc so, be very careful about letting off lead.

There are two lovely fields to walk around. My dog loves it at Acorns. (so do I 8-))

Well, we finally managed to get to Acorns last week - really really nice place and people; and yes they were very happy to take us with our dog. It was wonderful to walk round the fields naked although Lucy did get an insect bite on her bum..!! Probably from the dog disturbing the insects in the long grass.
We met some really nice people there too and chatted to a lovely couple of guys in the hot tub . We wished we'd been able to stay longer but work and a promised visit to friends in Devon conspired against us.

Is there anything to suggest changing - perhaps a few more degrees heat in the hot tub and the other thing is something that is not really within Acorns remit to alter, but it would have been nice if there was a better male/female balance onsite (it was predominantly male), but it's not a big deal as everyone was friendly.
Will we go back...absolutely !!

Well done to all at Acorns.

Also just back from Acorns. I would recommend it.
Adam 217 mentioned

but it would have been nice if there was a better male/female balance on site

Whilst in conversation with one of the wardens about the number of units allowed she mentioned this to me and said they self limited the numbers of campers so if the majority are male the balance should not be too extreme and it stops undue pressure on facilities. We saw no noticeable imbalance whilst there.

The site was spotlessly clean, well maintained and the staff friendly and welcoming. The hot pool water was changed and the sauna was wonderful.

My only thing lacking to my mind was a social centre and the temperature of the pool at 64 deg F. There was a lounge which is not very welcoming. The pool needs a cover to keep the heat in overnight. I'm told that a new social hub will come soon so that point will be sorted. These are minor points and did not distract from the holiday. Considering the site is only in its fifth year it really is first class and its good to see a new naturist venue. I wish the site owners well

The bottom line is we would visit again.

Just to explain, we have no problem with there being an imbalance (either way - but inevitably the higher numbers tend to be males) and our comment was that it would be nice to have a more equal balance and this is the same for any place/event that provides a social amenity. It's not a problem that there is a predominance of males and we are definitely not suggesting any 'holding' back of numbers.
It's a British problem, we think, as in Europe the numbers at all the campsites we've visited are pretty evenly balanced and that gives a bit easier access to socialising. However, as we said we chatted to a couple of friendly guys for about an hour in the hot tub.
The proof's in the pudding, so to speak, as (weather permitting) we're heading back to Acorns in the next few days so we weren't put off.
Now, the temperatures in the pool and hot tub....they're far more important..!!

...well, we went again and got to Acorns just as the weather broke from 29c to miserable mid-teens... :-/

We still had a great time; warm welcome from the staff, hot tub was nice and hot; sauna good; same lovely location; we trotted around naked a bit but just a shame it wasn't warm enough to sunbathe. The site was also pretty empty and emptied out more as the weather got worse....we would have stayed longer if the weather had held up. Still it is October in England - time to dig out the thermals..yuk...!!

Naturist365, have never been camping in Portugal so can make no comment. can i just ask have you stayed at Acorns ?

Grommit, we wanted to stay at acorns for 6 months. we asked for a seasonal pitch and were told there were none. We were then told we could stay the season provided we pay the full price. Also no discount for for paying for everything in advance. Acorns, get real. So they lost a season booking, plus of course meals and drinks. . So we now have our own campsite in Portugal. Euro 6.50 per night and evening meal Euro 5.00 and we have the weather. Today 30th December it was a naturist day as was yesterday and so on. First thing in the morning it is chilly, but by 10.30 it is strip off time. With 300 days + of sun, warm weather, over 50 acres of land and a lake I do not think you will ever see us at Acorns.
