The surrounding countryside looks glorious but it might be just me, or the weather at this time, or the understandable lack of units on the site but I am not overwhelmed by the look of the site itself.

For a country that has only a handful of commercial naturist enterprises...I can only name maybe 5 or 6 properly genuinely naturist ones at a stetch...(Pevors Farm, Dilly Dallies, St Annes, Lakeside, Acorns, Clover Spa, the one in Scotland....erm...umm) I hope every hopeful naturist can at least give new enterprises support without the eye for 5* features and facilities! The precedent is definitely Acorns, my local venue in Devon, which started in 2007...as a field and a draughty barn...but turned into the pretty amazing place it is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary. Acorns is still not finished. Despite the choice it now provides it still has two empty buildings waiting to be transformed. Dolcoed will be a labour of love, and I hope in ten years it will be in the same situation as Acorns now is. The day when the UK can produce an entrepreneur confident enough to invest all the money up front in a fully facilitated functional naturist resort before opening the doors will be a heady day indeed  ;D

I was only trying to say that from a marketing point of view a couple of the photos such as the one of the static were not the best perhaps from an aesthetic point of view. If 10 years ago, a flyer I had helped design was criticised by a customer I would want to know why. You can have the best product in the world but the marketing has to be right.  To be supportive doesn't mean not also being (helpfully) critical. It is allowed in a free market. I also confess to being a bit mystified by the metered electric and it would be nice to have some explanation as to how much electric you get for how much money.

I am not just picking on a new enterprise for which I wish every success. Quite a lot of the photography in BN magazine is also awful and they've been in the business half a century and more.

I wonder what effect this will have on Tything Barn, now that there will be a closer option for the most visitors.

There are regulations on metered electricity which limit the amount of the mark-up to reasonable levels - in some cases zero.

I understand. I kinda assumed that's where you were coming from so although I quoted you, my reply wasn't really aimed at you in a critical way. I just thought it a good point worth making, that as a community we should support 'botton-up' projects like this with a visit and promote them even though it clearly isn't ready with all the bows and whistles. Summer will help, and with a bit of landscaping and a bit of life there suddenly the marketing will have the background to bring out the best in the site. Moving in, clearing and generally only having the opportunity to tidy it a bit over the winter doesn't show it best, but then I think Jo's done a reasonable job given what they have. Constructive criticism...great...all for that.  8)

There is plenty of information on the internet about restricted charges when reselling electricity using a meter, supplied charge plus a reasonable charge to cover expenses. The usual way to get round this is to have a fixed daily charge that is advertised and becomes a part of an agreement between the customer and site owner.
One should take into account the costs incurred is installing and maintaining electric hookup points and routine testing by a qualified person which is not always cheap. Think we have a standard charge of £2  per day.

An odd advantage of the metered card facility is that you can sometimes have completely free electricity if the person before you on that outlet had seriously overbought.
I suspect the installation of these meters may be the result of experience when caravanners with electric kettles, heating, etc. have used excessive amounts of electricity resulting on a loss to the site owner. I have used this at a marina and found the cost to average out at pence per day.

You forgot to mention Lower poulza in your round up of commercial naturist venues. As for all venues aspiring to be like Acorns. Do you mean over priced and with a rude miserable owner.
