In Answer to nib's question, it is included in the club's constitution that in the unlikely event of closure, the property and assets would be sold and all proceeds donated to charities of the members choice, so there is no inducement for any member to influence closure for personal gain.

It would be interesting to know if those clubs that have gone to the dark side immediately and miraculously started making enormous profits
