I'm sure we're all watching the news and thinking damn, no chance of a holiday abroad this summer.

Being based near Studland I'll happily take what we have to offer in the South West - next week looks nice, but are we allowed to sunbathe on the beach?

As I understand it, sunbathing is now ok in England as long as you maintain social distancing and it does not happen where groups of people get together. In which case sunbathing naked at Studland ought to be ok too providing it's local to you. However I have the feeling we are going to see more and more people travelling further and further as the next couple of weeks pass. Providing the rate of infection is not adversely affected it's possible that little may be done about it. BUT if the 'R' number goes above '1' then restrictions will be imposed again very promptly!! You are so lucky living close to Studland, travelling down from the Midlands would not be a good idea (or allowed ) but as the good Lord knows....I would dearly love a day or two or ten there!!...So fingers crossed that people take a 'sensible, gently, gently does it' approach and in the not too distant future we may all be able to get to our favourite beaches and places etc. 👍

Fraisthorpe is only two miles away from me so I now have permission from Boris to go there if I want. I 'probably' won't take advantage unless for a walk as I would be on my own (partner can now drive to join me but can't vouch for distancing) and the weather is unlikely to be warm enough this month but I am a bit more cheerful at least at being given the choice as well as being able to drive a bit further afield to walks on the coast. I wouldn't go above a few miles though. At least, being on the sunny east coast, I do have close access to some nice walks and scenery such as Flamborough head. I feel for people who don't have such proximity to beauty spots.

If you are lucky enough to live near a good beach then enjoy. I just hope to put it bluntly people don't behave like tits and then we can get shops opened up. I still have a Primark voucher from Christmas. Though having said that, all the clothes will be out of date anyway.

Do you think the 130 mile drive to Studland classifies it as "Local".
Closest beech is probably Leysdowne which is still over 100 miles away.

Looks like we're still restricted to our back garden.

This is a question we’re desperate to know. We’d love to head down to Studlands but we’re fearful that when we get there that there will be so many folks that a) there’ll be no parking spaces b) not sure if the ferry will even be running

ans c) the beach will be so packed with walks there’s no where to sunbathe 2m apart.

Anyone been in the last few days that can advise?

I am lucky to have a beach only 5 minutes drive and 10 to 15 minutes walk away. I have been walking there regularly in the past few weeks but not stopped - now if it is warm enough I will be sunbathing there.

If I'm correct, the ferry is still not running.When we were there last year the ferry was not running and there were fewer people as the trip around Poole deterred them. So, in theory this may still be the case and parking might be ok on the ferry road. However, I'm not sure if the National Trust car park will be open...hmmm...that could make parking difficult if the place was busy..

Does anyone know??

One further update...I did read that trips to the coast are fine but an overnight stop is not. As campsites etc. are shut, the temptation to roadside/lay-by/wild camp should be resisted as the risk of being moved on and a fine is high!!

The regulations are quite clear and have been updated this week to reflect the changes in England. It’s always worth reading the actual regulations rather than just the guidance. For example the guidance used to allow one exercise session a day whilst the actual regulations permitted a person to be out for exercise with no limit on the number of times each day or the duration.

@sunnybumscpl

Hi..reading your last post I was wondering if you managed to get to St.Osyths at all? Cant seem to find much up to date info on this place.( older posts on other sites on the 'net )

I am thinking of a local trip around some of the coastal areas and beaches for a bit of naturist time. I thought about starting at St.Osyths and working my way up. Does anyone have any info on this place and about parking nearby,shops,places to park up for the night etc??
