This happened 5 years ago or so, and wasn't planned.

I often take the dog for a naked walk with me in the many local woods and places I know in the area that people rarely frequent. When I've been naked in the garden and around the house all day I have never seen the point to put something on just to drive there and take it off again once there, since no one can see I'm naked in the car and often I don't take anything to cover up with, which was the case here.

It was a very hot day - a Friday, Saturday or Sunday in the summer - in any case I drove the dog to one of the remote rarely used woods, had a great walk didn't see anyone. At the end of the walk, put the dog in the back of the car (a hatchback) and headed back home 3 miles or so. The route does take me through a very small town, and as I was just getting to leave the town (30 mph) when I hit a dump and the back door opened, for some reason it hadn't closed properly - the next section was 60 mph with some sharp bends. Naturally I didn't want to risk the dog jumping out or getting thrown out, but on the opposite side of the road was a long queue of stationary traffic returning from the coast. So I stopped in a lay-by area (no houses to the left), got out of the car (naked in full view of all the stationary cars) went to the back of the car, found that a stone was preventing the rear door from closing fully, removed it, closed the door and then got back in the car and returned home - the only thing from the many cars that must have seen me was cheers.

So my first time being the only naked person in a very public space with I assume many textiles watching (some could have been naked).

(p.s. this has never happened since although I do still drive nude for walks etc - I just check that after using the car to carry many diy things - there aren't any stones preventing the rear door from closing).

p.p.s I say the only naked person since when I did 'the sea of Hull' event there were a lot of us (3500) naked in a public space with a lot of textiles watching.

I've slept naked since I was a teenager and when I went to university I stayed in Halls, my room was in close proximity to the fire exit and after a night when I may have had one too many the fire alarm sounded, but it took a few minutes for me to wake and jump out of the window into a crowd of 300 others....

A couple of things spring to mind. Both happened many years ago;

1. I ran naked with friends on the rugby pitch at Murrayfield Stadium. We were attending a stag night and by accident found a door which gave us access to the pitch - there was no game on at the time otherwise we might met Erika Roe !

2. On a boy’s weekend in Bury, we played nude football in the hotel car park. The management was not amused.

The chances are that any guests watching were amused but that management felt obliged to be not amused on their behalf.

There were few cars parked at the time.  We played with a soft ball in a corner away from the main parking area.

I was working in Spain near Valencia and staying in a hotel there which had a pool. The pool closed about 10pm but around midnight I fancied a swim. I had no costume with me but I dared myself to go nude. The doors from the hotel were still unlocked and I got into the pool area OK. I went into the changing room and stripped off. There some rooms overlooking the pool and a few still had lights on. I slipped in and swam quite a few lengths, enjoying my skinny dip.
Suddenly one of the hotel staff appeared and beckoned me to get out, making disapproving sounds in Spanish. I took a deep breath and climbed out. He shook his head when he saw me and continued to mutter. I had to quickly dry off and dress while he stood with his keys. Nothing more was said or done so I guess he got over it OK. Looking back I think it was one of the best dares I have done naked.

Another one from me.

Many, many years ago (well over 20) I was working in Italy just south of Rome, and at the weekend went to the local beach - there were many people naked all mixed in with textiles all along the beach so naturally I enjoyed the day nude there and they had some facilities dotted along the beach - only rule seemed to be dress for the restaurant but other than that no issues or restrictions along the 5 miles I walked.

I went back with the family to the same beach some 5-10 years later and just assumed it was the same, we found a nice spot set-up camp and stripped off - all seemed fine. I don't like just lying in the sun as my wife does, so went for a swim - all still seemed OK, then later went for a long walk along the beach, mainly looking out to sea. After probably 1-2 miles a restaurant guy (because of what he was wearing) came running up to me and was very clearly irritate - I spoke some Italian but not much, but enough to understand it was not a nudist beach and I shouldn't be there - I had a quick look around and sure enough I was the only one naked - he then told me the nudist part was further down the beach. I apologised and explained my family was the other direction, but stated I would go back in the sea. Before going back I did visit the 'nudist' section - what was once no restriction had turned into a small 400m section of beach! I then went into the sea and returned to my family.

Many years ago I was in California with the person who is now my wife and the person who was the manager of my company and his partner.  We stayed in their house and always went naked in their pool.

They asked us if we would like to go to his friend's hot tub party to which we had all been invited. We asked if we needed swimming togs and he said no as nobody wears clothes in hot tubs in California.

When we got there the party was in full swing with a broad cross-section of people both young and old. After a couple of beers, we decided to get into what was quite a large hot tub and which was already occupied by about three or four adults and two or three children.

We all stripped off climbed over the side and squeezed in. Everything was just fine, however, it was not very long before all the others got out when it was quite apparent that we were the only ones naked.

When we eventually got out we told our hosts what had happened and said we hoped we had not offended anyone at their party. They just had a good laugh and said not to worry about it as they never wore anything either and that if the others had been upset that was their problem. Incidentally, the children did not take any notice whatsoever.

You never know what is under the water!!

Walked from the car park on a camping and caravan site back to the naturist section. It was not till I had walked back I realised I had walked the whole length of the textile section naked.

I didn't do this nude, but it is the only thing I can think of. I posted this nine years ago. It was Valalta by the way in pre refurb days. I think it's a long time enough ago not to worry about it.

Not really a disaster in the sense of the word but it was one that made me realise that I would have absolutely no career option in MI5 or the KGB and all my childhood fantasies of being a heroine in the French Resistance aka Violette Szabo were a load of rubbish.

As briefly as possible, had met up with a lot of Peng Travellers or as we called them Penguins, at a certain naturist resort/Stalag near Rovinj (am keeping this schtum and also the year as I have no wish to be somehow rumbled and banned, you can't tell with the internet) and on one particular day of jollity, had finished the day going to a restaurant outside of the gates. So we are all very merry there and back singing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, no I can't tell you why, and when we got back it was well past midnight, so OH and I had to somehow sober up enough to phone for a taxi back to our crash pad in town.

Whereas one of the group pipes up that they have a spare bed going in the living area of their apartment and why don't we stay there.

Now, of course in mitigation I was a bit plastered. We all were. Though even as I was slurring 'I don't know, oh that's very kind' it did cross my mind that in the booklet of the said resort, there were about 5million rules, and numero uno and the strictest is that there are not to be positively ANY nonpaying guests in the place without the management's say so, knowledge and without being paid for. But hey, it was late. A taxi would have been dear and a long time coming so we took advantage and crashed out.

So the next morning we are at the beer breakfast with the ooompah band going, which did so much for my hangover I can't tell you. I can't quite remember the details (have blocked them out) but I THINK another of the Penguins had gone for the breakfasts and we duly ate as much as we could. Gingerly. But then one of the gauleiters looked over at us, looked again, did a smart detour and asked me (ME??!!) straight out.

'Vot is your name, rank and serial number?' No sorry. 'Vot is your room number?'

Well, I think I must have looked like Bertie Wooster. The mouth opening and closing like a guppy fish and completely at a loss. My life flashed before my eyes. I'm going to be banned from this and all other resorts in the former Yugoslavia. I'll never see the White Cliffs of Dover again. I'll be forced to spend a lifetime listening to the Croatian entrants in Eurovision.

One of the Penguins took charge seeing that I was a completely hopeless case at dissembling and/or lying and snapped 'They are our guests!' Long look. The gauleiter departed. Now, I would have left it there, weak with relief as I was but a few minutes later the bill arrives for the breakfasts. And I think it was more than the going rate as for guests...or something. So meanwhile with my head in my hands moaning...'please leave it...don't want trouble...leave it...' Penguin marched into the restaurant and demanded the princely rebate of 20 kuna each. Which we got.

The remarkable thing is that with about 4000 odd people in the place we were instantly picked out as interlopers by the gauleiters.

So a word of advice. If you're tempted to do the same thing, get your cover story sorted beforehand. ::)

Or don't go to the beer breakfast.

I used to have a ski boat in my young bachelor days, and my friends and I would often find a sandy spot on Lake Samammish in the Seattle, WA area where we could water ski and camp out for the night. We often didn't wear clothes in the hot summer evenings, and we'd "skinny ski" until dark.

One night when we were a bit too inebriated, we skied after dark. I was driving and a girlfriend was slaloming across the wakes and took a rest directly behind the boat at the exact moment I misjudged where some old pier pilings were near shore. The boat flew through two columns of pilings about 10 feet apart, and my heart went into my throat. We made it through at about 30 MPH, but the boat guard, skier and driver--all starkers--were each scared out of our minds. Had the boat or skier hit the pilings, there would have been major injuries or death, with a lot of details left to the imagination of the investigators.

Stupid youth!

We idled slowly back to the beach/camp with a searchlight and decided to call it a night.

The most stupid thing I've done nude?

A few years ago I helped organise a nude installation for an artist. It was on top of Bowland Fell (Trough of Bowland) in Lancashire. This was a "Walking installation" which meant the public followed a route from the valley bottom to the hill top, encountering installations along the way on the theme of "Hen Harriers"

The final installation consisted of individual life models lying in shooting butts out on the fell. We were all nude, and took turns of about an hour each lying naked. This was to demonstrate the vulnerability of Hen Harriers which are persecuted by gamekeepers

This all went off OK on day one, but on the second day the weather changed. The temperature dropped to about 8 deg C, the wind got to almost gale force, and the rain was torrential.  The public were warned not to set out without full winter clothing (!) but we life models had no such luxury! When 2 (female) models started to develope hypothermia and got up from the pose and wandered off naked over the fell (you do daft thinks when you have hypothermia) we decided to call it a day and began a full scale rescue of the participants. During the evacuation one model fell and hurt her back, resulting in a "carry" to my Land Rover 2 miles away. Although we "self rescued", a group of 10 walkers (not on the walking installation) had to be brought off the fell by Mountain Rescue.

It took about 4 hours and 6 journeys in my Land Rover to relay everyone back to our coaches at the road. Those with hypothermia were evacuated first, along with the casualty with sore back (it turned out to be a compression fracture and she spent a week in hospital followed by 6 months recovering at home - I know, as she is my wife!)

All this in the name of art!

I have done a few stupid things in the past. I think the more you go on nude hikes, the more confidence you get. So I started, walking on public foot paths, then from there, on the road side early in the morning.

But what I class as the most stupid thing I did nude, was walk around the city outskirts at night. One day I got caught and chased by a taxi chap in his car. Never again. I will stick to the countryside.

In my youth, two friends, Brian, Ken and I spent a weekend camping at the top of Millstone Edge in Derbyshire in order to climb as many of the gritstone rock routes as we could.  When we had pretty well exhausted the possibilities, we got up one morning and decided to do a route nude, except for still wearing boots and harnesses - helmets hadn't become generally available at that stage.  We broke the route into small pitches and all three of us were spread across the face when three young girls walked along the footpath below and surprised us by yelling something like, "Hello boys!"
