Welcome to the canvas of life, I have uploaded my first attempt at a life painting in oils, I have also uploaded the sketch of the painting before I started to paint it, it's not quite finished yet but getting there.
I would like to try modeling for an art class or an individual artist and I would like to attempt painting a life model or models in oils.
I look forward to seeing other peoples work and hope everyone gets some enjoyment from the canvas of life.

Here is my contribution...
Not my own effort, but a drawing of me done from a photograph taken 15 years ago.

Very nice drawing John
It's good to see artwork here - and some good ones too. I've taught life drawing and figurative sculpture and can say that life models are generally in demand since tutors like to be able to call on a variety of models. It's quite hard work though, don't be under any illusions about 'simply sitting there'!

How common are life drawing classes in the East Midlands, Nottingham more specifically, I might be interested in doing some modelling if deemed suitable.

LIFE is short, break the RULES. FORGIVE quickly, KISS slowly, LOVE truly, LAUGH uncontrollably, and NEVER REGRET anything that made you smile.
well done to those who have added their pictures. I have been to many life classes and often wondered why I was there when looking at the standard of other people. I started taking a friend who had been a commercial but now retired and in a wheel chair it was the highlight of his week to take part. I have learnt a lot from him and can even manage to make some reasonable attempts during 1 minute and 5 minute poses.
I paint portraits and enjoy working portraits of primates and you may say 'so what' well despite my reluctance to acknowledge that I have made much progress at life classes, I can see how my work has progressed as a result of all that background work. I would be very happy to join in life classes if in my area.
Would love to be a model but could not hold poses for long enough to be of any help.

Hi, just got the programme for this years Art In Action Thursday July 17 to Sunday 20 . Wonder if any body might be interested in making a day of it and meeting to share art interests.

Hi All, I have been a life model for 40 years. If anybody out there in south east Cornwall needs a model do feel free to send me a message. I am 59 6'3" and weigh in at 18 stone.
I've been modelling for 10+ years now and found it a great relaxing experience. Don't underestimate what hard physical work it can be, anyone who says 'oh you just stand still' has clearly never tried it! Modelling is a precarious occupation and can go for ages with no bookings then a really busy couple of weeks followed by nothing. Also, you can find yourself no longer required at the drop of a hat simply because a group 'want a bit of a change', so constantly looking for new opportunities/contacts. Changes to funding is killing off adult education for anything that doesn't lead to a paper qualification... something many people simply don't want... not to mention the paperwork!!!
One of my nieces has just finished her art degree, and part of her portfolio is shown here https://www.facebook.com/Abby-Squires-Art-and-Illustration-850695655058094/photos/?tab=album&album_id=941006186027040
When I saw this work, I told her that I was a naturist, and the other naturists may find this work interesting and she was happy for me to share details of her FB page for her artwork (she would also be available for commissions..). She is not a naturist and had shown no interest in naturism, but this project has made her view the human body differently.
She describes this project as: "Just Flesh explores in-equality amongst genders in society. I have created several images through the media of woodcut which explore the human form as an expression of emotion rather than a display of sexuality. I stripped the body of sexualisation and attempted to describe emotions we may experience due to sexism and gender roles, through the use of body language, and emotive mark making. "
I hope you like them.
