My wife and I will be going to Strete, Dorset for a week in late May once things open up again! When I looked into the area, I discovered that a section of Slapton Sands beach is for naturists, which for me is a “Bruce Bonus” and totally unexpected! I just wondered if any other members have enjoyed Slapton Sands and have any good tips to pass on. I am very much looking forward to our visit especially plenty of skinny dipping in what looks to be lovely azure waters. Any recommendations would be most welcome! Thanking you in advance! 😎
Strete in Devon, right?
It's great, maybe the best CO beach in the UK. You can walk down from the village, although it's quite a hill, otherwise the car park can fill up on busy days, so get there early. It's the very north end of the beach, and has a lovely sheltered aspect. The beach isn't really sandy, it's a fine shingle, gravel, very comfortable to walk on (although can get very hot in the sun) and it's easy to brush off. Be careful in the water, while I'll swim a few yards in and it's great for a dip, there are dangerous currents not far out. When the sightseeing boat passes by, do remember to give them folks with binoculars a wave!
Usually a nice mix too, families, couples, singles, but enough space to keep to yourself. The very next end is apparently the gay section.
It doesn't really have a major dune system like many other CO beaches, this is possibly why it's not really got an unwanted reputation like some other beaches
Absolutely! Thank you for taking the time to write and the information, that is very kind of you. If its the North end, that is even better as we are staying in a B&B near to that end of the beach. I am hoping the weather will be as good as last year for the same period and your advice and guidance is very much appreciated!
Many thanks, stay safe and well!
Can only echo what Tibetan Hat has said about Slapton Sands. It is one of my personel favorite beaches.Nice walk down to the beach from Strete but tougher walking back uphill on the South Devon Path.I also stay in a lovely B&B in the village.Gloious part of the country. 🙂

Thank you Martin for your comments, so far I cannot wait to get there and still have a couple of months to go. I really appreciate it, brilliant!
I moved to Strete in November last year and I am looking forward to spending many days at the beach and exploring the Devon coast and Dartmoor.

If all the reports are as good as these @ExpatNudist, I am so looking forward to my visit and exceedingly jealous of you! 😎
Yesterday, I finally got to enjoy some quality naturist time at Slapton Sands beach, including a very brief skinny dip as the water is somewhat colder 🥶!
All reports were spot on and the beach is superb! Went for a nice walk to air dry after my dip to the far left end rocks and back. By the end of my stay I was the only nudist on the beach! Come to think of it, I was the ONLY person on the beach!
First of the year and it felt absolutely brilliant to be free of clothes on the beach and in the late afternoon/early evening sunshine!
Will be making the most of today’s lovely weather as well! 😎😎😎
I'm going there in July, staying in the Manor Farm campsite. I'm told it's an easy walk down to the beach but a bit more strenuous coming back.
@stewart You’re staying just up the road from where my wife and I have been and yes it is an easier trip down to the beach than the return but well worth it. The walk is part of the South West Coastal Path walk through paths full of seasonal colour and forest glens! Take your time coming back and you will find it a comfortable walk but good exercise. My wife is is her upper 60’s and we did it in about 30 minutes 45 max! You will not be disappointed, the beach is very enjoyable!
@expatnudist I thoroughly enjoyed my week in Strete last week and totally get why you moved there with such a great naturist beach! Hope you’ve been enjoying it with the better weather!
@stewart May I ask how you got on at Slapton Sands as part of your July tour?
We had a great time, but only went to the beach twice during our week. Manor Farm campsite is such a beautiful place we spent a lot of time lounging there naked, maybe with a stroll down to the pub. It was very hot that week so the walk there and back was a bit daunting, and the beach was too hot for our dog.
We also had a couple of day trips to Dartmouth and Torquay - that whole coast is gorgeous.
@stewart pleased to hear you both had a good week and also enjoyed your excursions, it is a lovely part of the country and coast! Thank you for letting me know as I have been eager to hear how your tour went!
I'll write in more detail when we get back. Although I've been naked most days for the last few weeks I've not been posting here or anywhere else. I keep my phone turned off a lot of the time when I'm on holiday.
